Radiology benefits management (RBM) firm CareCore National has settled litigation with a New York imaging firm that claimed that it was unfairly excluded from the RBM's network.
CareCore is used by most insurers in the state of New York, including UnitedHealthcare, Oxford Health Plans, and Aetna. Several radiology firms that have not been allowed into CareCore's network claim they have been denied access to thousands of patients, and have raised antitrust issues because CareCore is owned by radiologists.
At least one lawsuit has been settled, however. Park West Radiology and its affiliate, Lenox Hill Radiology and Medical Imaging Associates, reached a settlement with CareCore that involves Park West joining the RBM's network in exchange for dropping its litigation.
The agreement does not provide any compensation to Park West or any other party in connection with the withdrawal of the suit. In announcing the settlement, CareCore said it would "vigorously defend its network against legal actions."
