Only months after hospital chain Sutter Health hired Radisphere National Radiology Group, a national provider of professional radiology services, to handle its nighttime reads, it plans to replace Radisphere with another firm, according to an article in the Sacramento Business Journal.
Rumors of the move come in part due to letters written by Tom Gagen, CEO of Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento, CA, to physicians detailing confusion over evening radiology coverage, delays with transmitting images, and questions about quality -- enough for Sutter to ask its own doctors to reread 95% or more of the nighttime teleradiology interpretations, the article said.
Sutter could not be reached for comment, while Beachwood, OH-based Radisphere declined to comment.
