HealthHelp debuts ED medicine service

Radiology benefits management firm HealthHelp has introduced an education-based program intended to reduce inappropriate imaging utilization by emergency department (ED) physicians.

Focusing on the five indications commonly handled in the ED, the program will aim to improve the ordering patterns of ED physicians by providing education on radiation exposure and the potential harm associated with high-tech imaging, according to the company. It will also educate participants about the best uses for the technology and the importance of timing in relation to patient management.

Physicians will earn continuing medical education (CME) credits for participating in the program, the company said.
