The U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has approved diagnostic imaging certification firm RadSite as the fourth accreditation organization under the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act (MIPPA) of 2008.
CMS stated on September 27 that RadSite's process for accrediting providers with advanced diagnostic services had met or exceeded all federal requirements, according to RadSite. Under MIPPA, providers that bill CMS for advanced imaging services under Medicare Part B must be accredited to receive reimbursement.
RadSite's accreditation process enables providers to take a corrective action period to remedy any deficiencies and improve their processes, rather than failing outright, the company said. The firm said it also provides feedback through onsite visits and suggests opportunities for improvement.
