Ariz. radiologist candidate rakes in contributions

An interventional radiologist in Arizona who is running for U.S. Congress is off to a good start, bringing in more than $250,000 in campaign contributions.

In his first eight weeks as a candidate, Dr. Stephen Ferrara raised $256,243 for his campaign and ended the fundraising quarter with more than $245,000 cash on hand, according to the Radiology Advocacy Alliance political action committee (RADPAC), which is supporting Ferrara's run.

Ferrara is running as a Republican for the 9th Congressional District of Arizona for the seat currently held by Rep. Kyrsten Sinema (D-Phoenix). He is a former chief medical officer of the U.S. Navy and is a Gulf War veteran, according to RADPAC, and works at the Phoenix Veterans Affairs (VA) Health Care System as an interventional radiologist.

The Republican primary for the seat will be held on August 28, 2018.
