CLEVELAND - Close to 2,000 people attended this year’s Symposium for Computer Applications in Radiology, according to SCAR officials. The figure represents growth of 10%-15% over last year’s meeting in Salt Lake City.

In addition, 97 companies participated in SCAR’s technical exhibit, compared with 85 last year, SCAR officials said. The figures were reported on Saturday at the SCAR membership meeting.

The membership meeting also saw SCAR 2001/2002 chair Dr. Arvin Robinson of the University of Rochester pass the torch to incoming chair Katherine Andriole, Ph.D., of the University of California, San Francisco.

PACS pioneer Samuel Dwyer, Ph.D., of the University of Virginia was inducted as a SCAR fellow in recognition of his decades of work in advancing the field of digital image management.
