The American Roentgen Ray Society (ARRS) has named Dr. Andrew Rosenkrantz of NYU Langone Health as the next editor in chief of the American Journal of Roentgenology (AJR).
Rosenkrantz will replace longtime AJR Editor-in-Chief Dr. Thomas Berquist of the Mayo Clinic Jacksonville in Florida, becoming the 13th person to hold the position in the journal's 113-year-old history, the ARRS said. Berquist began his tenure at the journal in 2008; he announced his coming retirement from the position in 2018.

He published his first article in the AJR in 2010 and since then has authored or co-authored more than 60 articles, letter-to-editor replies, and guest editorials for the journal. He has also served as the AJR 's continuing medical education consulting editor for genitourinary imaging.
Rosenkrantz has been a member of ARRS since 2004. In 2014, he received the Melvin M. Figley Fellowship in Radiology Journalism award and in 2017 the Leonard Berlin Scholarship in Medical Professionalism from the Roentgen Fund. He currently serves on the society's publications and practice improvement committees and its scientific program subcommittees for genitourinary imaging, efficacy, administration, and informatics.
At NYU's Grossman School of Medicine, he is a professor of radiology and urology, the director of prostate imaging, the director of health policy, and the section chief of abdominal imaging in the department of radiology. He joined the faculty there in 2009. Rosenkrantz is editor of the textbook MRI of the Prostate: A Practical Approach and has authored or co-authored more than 350 peer-reviewed publications.
He has received research awards from the Society of Uroradiology, the Society of Abdominal Radiology, the Society of Computed Body Tomography and Magnetic Resonance, and has served on scientific program committees for the RSNA.
Rosenkrantz's tenure at the AJR will begin in July.
