The American Journal of Roentgenology has revised its peer-review system under the leadership of new Editor in Chief Dr. Andrew Rosenkrantz.
Among the changes are author-centered peer review, faster publication of accepted manuscripts as online-first, and the recruitment of 11 new section editors. Rosenkrantz was named editor in chief of the AJR in March 2020 and is the 13th person to hold the position in the journal's 113-year history.
The changes are designed to provide authors with a more streamlined submission process and a faster decision on whether a manuscript will be published. It will also let authors know more quickly if the AJR is interested in publishing a manuscript, and if not, it will let them move on to another journal.
What's more, the AJR will publish manuscripts as online-first, which will expedite the publication of timely research for radiologists and allied scientists alike, according to Rosenkrantz.
