The global medical imaging equipment services market is expected to produce $11.6 billion in revenues by 2015, according to a new report by market research firm Global Industry Analysts.
Why? Key factors driving market growth include increased demand for older equipment servicing in a tight economic climate, according to the San Jose, CA-based firm. Hard pressed by lack of financing for new purchases, many medical imaging equipment users in the U.S. and Europe have had to postpone new equipment purchases, most significantly CT and MRI devices. Instead, users have chosen to refurbish existing units, bolstering the market for medical imaging equipment services.
According to the report, titled "Medical Imaging Equipment Services: A Global Strategic Business," the U.S. is the largest market for medical imaging equipment services. Asia-Pacific represents the fastest-growing market and is projected to grow at a compounded annual growth rate of more than 7% through 2015, Global Industry Analysts said.
