The American Board of Radiology (ABR) said that remote administrations of its Diagnostic Radiology (DR) and Interventional Radiology/Diagnostic Radiology (IR/DR) Core Exams in 2021 will now be held over three days.
The ABR announced in June that due to concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic, it was postponing all exams scheduled for 2020 to 2021. It has also decided to hold all 2021 exams in a virtual format.
The decision to move from a two-day exam to a three-day exam was made to account for factors beyond the ABR's control that could result in exam interruptions, such as internet connectivity or power issues, according to the organization.
The ABR also noted that remote exam delivery will require modifications to when breaks are offered and how exam content is accessed following a break. Details on the exam structure are still being worked out, and the ABR said that it will share the information as soon as it's available.
The Core Exam is currently scheduled for February 1-3 and 8-10; June 2-4 and 7-9. The ABR will also soon release Core Exam dates for November 2021.
