The RSNA is honoring pancreatic cancer detection research with its Alexander R. Margulis Award for Scientific Excellence.
The award will be presented at the upcoming RSNA meeting to authors of the study "Pancreatic Cancer Detection on CT Scans with Deep Learning: A Nationwide Population-based Study," which was published September 13, 2022, in Radiology.
"This year's Margulis Award recognizes impactful results likely to affect millions of patients throughout the world," said Radiology Editor Linda Moy, MD, in a statement released by the society. "The study demonstrates how a deep learning-based tool can result in accurate detection of pancreatic cancer on CT scans, especially for tumors smaller than two centimeters. Early detection of pancreatic cancer allows for prompt intervention that greatly increases the chances of survival."
