Cybil Nielsen has been elected as the 2024-2025 president-elect for the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI) Technologist Section.
Nielsen, a nuclear medicine educator at Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts in Concord, CA, was among a new slate of officers introduced June 9 during the SNMMI’s annual meeting in Toronto.
Nielsen has served SNMMI in leadership roles since 2006, most recently as chair of the Advocacy Committee and as a member of the Publications and Educator’s committees.
As president-elect, she said she will work toward expanding educational programs, mentorship opportunities, and networking events, ensuring that the society’s members have access to resources that facilitate continuous learning, career advancement, and a sense of belonging within the SNMMI-TS community.
In addition, Nielsen said she plans to champion initiatives that promote and support the integration of cutting-edge technologies in nuclear medicine and molecular imaging.
Nielsen attended the University of Louisville in Louisville, KY, where she earned a bachelor’s of health science degree in nuclear medicine technology. She then received a master’s degree in business administration from Indiana Wesleyan University.
