Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) has named Dr. Kassa Darge, PhD, as chair of the department of radiology and radiologist in chief.
Darge is an internationally renowned pediatric radiologist, who has served as chief of body imaging at CHOP and as a professor of radiology at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine since 2006. He holds the John W. Hope Endowed Chair for Radiology Faculty Development at CHOP, and is an honorary professor of radiology at Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia.
Prior to his arrival at CHOP, Darge served as chair of the department of pediatric radiology at the University of Würzburg in Germany.
"Dr. Darge is a highly accomplished researcher, educator, and scholar in radiology who will help lead CHOP's strategy and future as we continue to find better ways to provide exceptional patient care and research discoveries for children," said Chad Hough, senior vice president of support services at CHOP, in a statement released by the hospital.
