Donna Dean has stepped down from her post as deputy director of the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB) in Bethesda, MD. Dean is leaving the institute to become senior scholar in residence at the National Academy of Engineering.
Dean played a major role in the formation of the NIBIB from the institute’s earliest days after it was created in December 2000. She served as NIBIB’s acting director until Dr. Roderic Pettigrew, Ph.D., of Emory University in Atlanta was tapped as permanent director in May 2002.
