This year's International Day of Radiology (IDoR) will honor the crucial role that medical imaging professionals have played in diagnosing and treating patients with COVID-19.
IDoR is held every year on November 8 in celebration of Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen's discovery of x-rays in 1895; each year, a different theme is selected as the focus for festivities worldwide. The event is sponsored by the European Society of Radiology, the RSNA, and the American College of Radiology, as well as other specialty societies.

Image courtesy of the European Society of Radiology.The motto for 2020 is "Radiologists and radiographers supporting patients during COVID-19" and the idea is to recognize achievements and challenges for the specialty since the start of the pandemic. Organizers are planning to create an e-book about the pandemic and are asking medical imaging professionals to submit a written report and pictures illustrating their experiences for inclusion by November 5. Radiologists and radiographers are also encouraged to publicize their contributions by posting Twitter on November 8, using the hashtag #IDoR2020.
