Contrast agent and virtual colonoscopy developer E-Z-EM reported record fiscal fourth-quarter net sales of $41.6 million, up 13% compared with the $36.9 million booked in the fourth quarter of 2003 (end-May 31).
For the current period (end-May 29), the Lake Success, NY-based firm had net earnings of $4 million, an 82% increase compared with net earnings of $2.2 million in the same period last year.
Sales in the company's E-Z-EM segment were $27.7 million, a gain of 7% over the $25.9 million reported in the prior fiscal year's fourth quarter, while sales in the firm's AngioDynamics segment were $14.1 million, up 26% from $11.2 million in the year-ago quarter, the company said.
The firm said its E-Z-EM segment had strong sales of products for the CT market, including diagnostic products and CT injectors, and that products for the virtual colonoscopy market also posted significant sales gains.
For its 2004 fiscal year, the company booked record net sales of $148.8 million, a 12% increase compared with $133.2 million for fiscal 2003. Net earnings for the year grew 145% to $6.7 million, compared with net earnings of $2.7 million in the prior fiscal year.
