Elsevier launches forensic radiology journal

Medical and scientific journal publisher Elsevier has launched the Journal of Forensic Radiology and Imaging, with its first issue dated January 2013.

The journal is the official publication of the International Society of Forensic Radiology and Imaging (ISFRI), an organization of forensic pathologists, radiologists, radiographers/radiologic technologists, and surveying engineers that was founded in November 2011.

Dr. Michael Thali, director of the Institute of Forensic Medicine at the University of Zurich, has been named editor-in-chief.

The journal will cover topics including the use of radiology in clinical and postmortem forensics; correlation studies of traditional autopsy versus virtual radiological autopsy; cutting-edge forensic imaging techniques for research and daily service; use of 3D imaging in crime scene and traffic accident reconstruction; and use of imaging techniques in anthropological studies, bite mark and other pattern injuries, and forensic art work analysis.
