Road to RSNA 2020: CT

2017 11 02 17 42 1107 Road To Rsna 400

The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted CT's usefulness as a diagnostic tool -- especially in the early days of the outbreak, when reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction tests were scarce and results were delayed.

As the year has progressed, CT has continued to show its value as clinicians track COVID-19 patients after recovery. Attendees at the virtual RSNA 2020 meeting will hear results from research that demonstrates CT's efficacy in this regard.

Meanwhile, other science and educational sessions at RSNA 2020 will cover topics such as cardiac CT, assessing patients' responses to treatment using PET/CT, and innovations in dual- and multienergy CT. Researchers will also explore questions such as whether fractional flow reserve CT for stenosis on coronary CT angiography can replace CT perfusion, as well as whether triple-rule-out chest CT in the emergency room can be the "one-stop" solution for evaluating chest pain.

Also look for research that reviews the use of molecular imaging with CT -- one session in particular will address abdominal and pelvic imaging -- and how radiologists are using artificial intelligence and radiomics for CT in clinical practice.

Our pre-RSNA coverage on CT offers insights into the pivotal role the modality plays in the imaging enterprise, including perspectives from RSNA subcommittee chairs and other experts in the field.
