Canon opens new DR assembly facility

Canon has officially opened a new medical device assembly facility in Japan to support U.S. demand for digital radiography (DR) systems. The Kamisato Office facility, which is located in Saitama Prefecture northwest of Tokyo, also manufactures and assembles Canon’s ophthalmic products and analog x-ray systems, according to Canon U.S.A. of Irvine, CA.

The new facility began production earlier this year, and has the capacity to manufacture more than 1000 DR systems per year, Canon said. The firm produces all of the components for DR sensors.
