Computed radiography provider Orex Computed Radiography is scheduled to unveil a dedicated CR system for radiotherapy use, the CR.RT, at the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ASTRO) meeting in Salt Lake City next week.
CR.RT captures megavoltage portal images for treatment verification, as well as kilovoltage images for treatment simulation, said the Auburndale, MA-based developer.
In addition to its CR.RT product, the vendor will be showcasing its portal imaging CR cassette, which can remain in place for the duration of a radiotherapy treatment, unlike conventional CR cassettes that must be removed during the course of treatment. Orex claims that its poRT CR potentially reduces patient radiation dose and improves patient treatment throughput.
