Orex Computed Radiography of Yoqneam, Israel has inked a deal to license bone-density measurement software from CompuMed of Los Angeles. Orex will license the DICOM version of CompuMed’s Osteogram software, which uses computer-aided detection technology to enable healthcare providers to screen, diagnose, and monitor osteoporosis using either film-based or digital hand x-rays.
CompuMed developed the DICOM version of OsteoGram to work with digital x-ray systems like those from Orex. The companies will collaborate on an accelerated clinical trial to validate OsteoGram on Orex's Distributed Computed Radiography (D-CR) system. After the trial, OsteoGram will serve as the bone densitometry CAD component of Orex’s CR product line.
