Varian Medical Systems of Palo Alto, CA, is launching two new digital radiography flat-panel units at the upcoming RSNA meeting in Chicago.
PaxScan 2020 is targeted at the market for cardiac and conventional C-arm systems, and is designed to replace a 9-inch image intensifier. The panel features real-time dynamic imaging at rates from 1 to 60 frames per second, thanks to a fast-command processor that's optimized with extended memory. The panel also features an active area that's close to the panel's edge, for better access to the patient, according to the company.
PaxScan 4030CB is designed for the emerging conebeam cross-sectional x-ray imaging market, according to Varian. It's designed for imaging equipment that requires a large 20-inch diagonal imaging area, such as radiation therapy simulation systems like Varian's Acuity unit. The panel has low-dose characteristics and can acquire high-resolution fluoroscopy images at 30 fps and radiography images up to 7.5 fps.
Both PaxScan products are designed to be incorporated into x-ray systems manufactured by OEMs.
