Computed radiography (CR) vendor iCRco of Torrance, CA, and Vixar of Plymouth, MN, have received a Small Business Innovation Research grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
The grant covers the development of a red VCSEL (vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser) array assembly for the readout of images in CR systems. Vixar is developing the new technology for use in CR and is collaborating with iCRco to evaluate the potential of the technology for the digital x-ray market.
The works-in-progress technology is designed to enhance CR plate reading throughput and spatial and contrast resolution.
