Vascular ultrasound developer OmniSonics Medical Technologies of Wilmington, MA, has received a U.S. patent for its ultrasonic tissue ablation device. The patent covers the firm’s ultrasonic probe and the use of a sheath to direct and focus energy from the probe to treat vascular occlusive disease. The product uses acoustic energy to selectively target occlusive materials while leaving healthy tissue and grafts unharmed, according to the company.
