Image-guided radiosurgery developer Accuray is debuting two new applications for its CyberKnife radiosurgery product at this week’s meeting of the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology in Salt Lake City.
The Sunnyvale, CA-based vendor is releasing its CK-6 degrees tracking software product and showcasing its Axum remote-controlled treatment couch at the meeting. CK-6 utilizes an algorithm that enables patient alignment and treatment to be performed more rapidly and with sub-millimeter accuracy, reducing overall patient treatment times. This allows smaller tumors with more complex shapes to be treated with Accuray’s noninvasive CyberKnife radiosurgery system, according to the company.
The Axum couch permits patients to be aligned for radiosurgery in less than one minute. It is scheduled for commercial release in the next few months, Accuray said.
