Electrophysiology device developer EP MedSystems of West Berlin, NJ, has received Food and Drug Administration clearance for its line of "deflectable" diagnostic catheters.
A deflectable catheter is one that allows the physician to steer the catheter into vessels and areas of the heart that would be difficult to reach with a conventional fixed-curve catheter. The deflectable catheters connect to the company's EP-WorkMate electrophysiology workstation, as well as other technologies used to monitor and diagnose heart arrhythmias.
