Interventional device developer Boston Scientific of Natick, MA, has released financial results for its 2004 fiscal first quarter (end-March 31).
For the period, the firm had net sales of $1.082 billion, up 34% compared with $807 million reported for the first quarter of 2002. The firm said that, excluding the favorable impact of $58 million in foreign currency fluctuations, net sales were $1.024 billion, an increase of 27%.
Net income for the quarter rose to $194 million, a 100% increase compared with $97 million in the same period last year. The company noted that net income for the prior year included net special charges of $20 million.
