RITA Q1 shows sales upturn

Radiation therapy and radiofrequency ablation (RFA) developer RITA Medical Systems of Mountain View, CA, posted fiscal 2004 first-quarter revenues of $4.6 million, a slight uptick in light of the $4.5 million posted for the period a year earlier. Those results included $522,000 in sales to the company's Japanese distributor that are not repeated in the first quarter of 2004, the firm said.

For the quarter (end-March 31), the company trimmed its net loss to $2.2 million, compared with a net loss of $2.9 million in the same period last year.
