Abbott debuts StarClose

Interventional device developer Abbott Vascular Devices (AVD) unveiled its StarClose Vascular Closure System at the 2004 Paris Course on Revascularization (PCR) this week in Paris.

The product features a Nitinol clip, designed to promote the primary healing process to achieve a secure close of femoral artery access sites following diagnostic or interventional vascular procedures. It also provides 360° tissue apposition for rapid healing and immediate hemostasis, AVD said.

StarClose received CE Mark certification in February 2004, and is available for sale in the European Economic Community. AVD is a subsidiary of Abbott Laboratories of Abbott Park, IL.
