Medical device developer Lifeline Biotechnologies of Reno, NV, has launched its MastaScope system, a diagnostic microendoscope that provides physicians direct visualization of the breast duct system. The unit was recently demonstrated at the National Cancer Institute in Cairo, Egypt.
MastaScope is an intraoperative ductal endoscope that consists of a fiber-optic flexible scope that is inserted into the duct through the nipple and into the breast. This minimally invasive procedure allows physicians to directly see what is happening inside the duct systems, the company said.
