Interventional device developer Boston Scientific of Natick, MA, announced that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has assigned new reimbursement codes that cover Boston Scientific's and other interventional device manufacturers' intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) procedures.
Under the seven-code subcategory, called "Intravascular Vessel Imaging," IVUS procedures can be tracked through hospital data as Medicare reviews the costs of these procedures.
Previously, IVUS procedures could be tracked only through general ultrasound codes, making proper reimbursement difficult.
