FDA extends Cardiolite patent for pediatric use

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has extended the patent on Cardiolite for pediatric applications, effective January 8.

The grant extends the marketing exclusivity of Cardiolite for an additional six months beyond its patent expiration date of January 29, 2008, for Cardiolite's new owner, private equity firm Avista Capital Partners of North Billerica, MA.

Avista acquired the medical imaging business from Bristol-Myers Squibb Medical Imaging of North Billerica, MA, on January 8.
