ART Advanced Research Technologies

(Booth 114) Medical device firm ART Advanced Research Technologies will highlight its work-in-progress optical imaging device, SoftScan, at this year's RSNA meeting.

SoftScan is an optical molecular imaging device to be used as an adjunct to mammography for the diagnosis and characterization of breast cancer, according to the Montreal-based company. SoftScan uses near-infrared light to take 3D images of the breast and consists of an optical acquisition station and a review workstation.

The device is pending U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval but is cleared for use in Europe and Canada. ART is testing SoftScan at five North American hospital centers.
