MRI Devices gets FDA OK for knee coil

Coil developer MRI Devices of Waukesha, WI, has received Food and Drug Administration clearance for its Model HRK high-resolution knee array coil.

The device is a radiofrequency (RF) array coil designed for use with eight-channel MRI systems, and is optimized for parallel imaging. The coil encapsulates the knee, providing an improved signal-to-noise (SNR) ratio, and also reduces wrap artifact, according to the firm.

The coil can be offset to the left or right for patient positioning and comfort, and it locks to its base tray to reduce motion artifacts, MRI Devices said.
