Varian gets 510(k) for 3-D

Varian Medical Systems has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration 510(k) marketing clearance for its 3-D cone-beam CT imaging system on a radiation therapy simulation and verification device.

The cone-beam CT option on Varian’s Acuity simulator for dynamic targeting image-guided radiation therapy provides 3-D digital images for verifying and enhancing radiation therapy treatment plans, according to the Palo Alto, CA-based firm.
