Radiation oncology firm Varian Medical Systems of Palo Alto, CA, has completed its acquisition of Denver-based OpTx, a developer of software for medical oncology practices.
Varian paid approximately $18 million in cash to buy OpTx's assets, which include the OpTxTools software. Varian plans to continue to offer OpTxTools as a standalone product for medical oncology practices and as part of Varian's VARiS radiation oncology software.
The acquisition will add $9 million in annual revenues to Varian and will be neutral to earnings, the company said. The deal will enable Varian to offer a single integrated software system that can manage and coordinate both radiation therapy and chemotherapy.
