GE HealthCare (GEHC) is expanding its research collaboration with Mass General Brigham (MGB) exploring how generative AI could help radiation oncology teams access and interpret treatment information spread across multiple systems.
The teams aim to develop a generative AI tool that brings together structured clinical data and unstructured information, such as clinical notes, images, and treatment plans, enabling radiation oncology staff to ask questions and quickly surface relevant details about a patient's treatment journey, according to the company. The tool could eventually be integrated into GE HealthCare's Intelligent Radiation Therapy (iRT) radiation therapy workflow management software, and could inform future iRT capabilities across MR, CT, and theranostics, the vendor said.
The collaboration builds on earlier work between GE HealthCare and Massachusetts General Hospital, a founding member of the Mass General Brigham system, whose technology became a component of iRT.
