Given a little more time and education, mammographers should be able to make the most of full-field digital mammography (FFDM), according to a series reports out of the 2003 RSNA in Chicago. In our Women's Imaging Insider exclusive, you can catch up on the latest results from FFDM studies out of Norway, the Netherlands, and Germany.
Dr. Per Skaane shared the final results of his group's screening project involved over 3,000 women with FFDM. Skaane’s group from Ulleval University Hospital in Oslo also detailed the results of an observer performance study using FFDM and screen-film mammography. Meanwhile, German and Dutch investigators looked at the value of basic training to improve radiologists' performance in soft-copy reading of FFDM exams. To read more, click here.
In other women's health news, a study from the Journal of the National Cancer Institute proposes a link between aspirin use and pancreatic carcinogenesis in women. Also, a survey published in the Journal of the American Medical Association indicated that women have a positive attitude toward mammograms and other cancer screening tests, despite the chance of false-positive results.
