QT Imaging to deliver Breast Acoustic CT scanner to research centers

QT Imaging Holdings is delivering its Breast Acoustic CT scanner in collaboration with research centers in the U.S. and Canada.

The company is collaborating with the Department of Radiation Oncology and Radiation Treatment Program at the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. This collaboration is part of a five-year research grant from National Institutes of Health/National Cancer Institute to develop an inexpensive, portable, safe, and repeatable imaging approach that can accurately identify early response of breast cancer patients to neoadjuvant chemotherapy.

As part of this grant, Breast Acoustic CT quantitative images with independent biomarkers known to be sensitive to cancer will be collected, and the response of cancer to therapy, will be derived from quantitative ultrasound based on backscatter analysis.

This collaboration also aims to address the ongoing clinical need in breast cancer therapy for developing an inexpensive, robust, and accurate technique to identify the response of breast cancer to neoadjuvant chemotherapy within weeks.
