Komen applauds passing of breast imaging bill in Virginia

Susan G. Komen applauded the passage of breast imaging legislation in Virginia that the organization said eliminates barriers to essential care.

SB 1436 will allow people with state-regulated health plans to receive diagnostic and supplemental imaging without high patient cost sharing, Komen said. The bill was approved by the Virginia legislature and signed into law by Governor Glenn Youngkin on March 24.

“Thousands of Virginians require diagnostic and supplemental breast imaging every year, yet many forgo these critical services due to high out-of-pocket costs. Not anymore,” said Molly Guthrie, Komen’s vice president of policy and advocacy.
