Computer-aided detection (CAD) developer R2 Technology and the University of Chicago Medical Center have signed an exclusive license agreement to accelerate development of a mammographic CAD workstation reference library for the early detection of breast cancer, according to the Sunnyvale, CA-based company.
The investigational CAD reference library contains a database of both malignant and benign lesions, which radiologists can access for clinical comparison and relevancy. The reference library workstation is designed to display and compare lesions the way most radiologists do in their own minds, according to the firm.
The company plans to add thousands of lesions to the current database to extend its clinical relevance even further, R2 said.
