Actuality debuts Perspecta Medical

Three-dimensional-software developer Actuality Systems has released Perspecta Medical, a 3-D system for surgical and interventional planning.

The product combines the company's Perspecta Spatial 3D display with software that enables medical researchers to project interactive 3D images of CT, MRI, and PET data into a 360° multiviewer visualization system, according to the Burlington, MA-based vendor.

The Perspecta product consists of a 20-inch dome that plugs into a PC and displays full-color and full-motion images in true 3D space, with images that can be viewed and manipulated from any vantage point. It allows simultaneous collaboration by multiple viewers on spatially complex work, resulting in faster and more accurate comprehension and outcomes, the company said.

The Perspecta Medical software has a DICOM-viewer interface that presents coronal, axial, and sagittal views of imaging or research data. According to Actuality, Perspecta Medical is being offered to qualified medical institutions as a research tool and catalyst for the development of related applications. It has not received Food and Drug Administration approval, Actuality said.
