Vuzix has announced its augmented reality (AR) M400 Smart Glasses are being used by University of Rochester Medical Center surgeons for training.

In addition to surgical training, the Vuzix glasses are also being used to educate patients regarding their surgical procedure and the parts of their anatomy that will be affected.

The AR glasses overlay a specific real-world environment so that a remote supervising physician can look in on a procedure and circle a tumor or anything else a resident physician should address.

The glasses are available not only in the U.S. but also in Europe, Malaysia, Thailand, Tokyo, and Taiwan, Vuzix said.
