Fujitsu will be teaming up with partner Trillium Technology to show a combined magneto-optical drive/software viewer for ultrasound images.
Fujitsu and Trillium will feature DynaMO Pocket with DICOM Viewer, a software/hardware combination designed to facilitate storage and retrieval of ultrasound images and data. With DynaMO Pocket, users can transport studies written on MO disks by ultrasound machines to laptop or desktop Windows-based computers for offline review, according to Fujitsu and Trillium of Ann Arbor, MI.
The USB-powered DynaMO Pocket is compatible with 640, 540, 230, and 128 MB 3.5-inch MO disks. It costs $279, and is available now in the U.S.
Trillium will also be displaying Power ShowCase, an enhanced version of the ShowCase Viewer software provided with DynaMO Pocket. Power ShowCase includes an ActiveX control that displays and modifies DICOM images directly in PowerPoint, including ultrasound, cath clips, and stress echo layouts with synchronized playback.
In other new Fujitsu products, the company will be introducing DynaMO 2300SCSI, which allows for 2.3 GB of removable data storage on a 3.5-inch MO disk. Featuring a SCSI-2 interface, the portable external drive is backward-compatible with 1.3GB, 640 MB, 540 MB, and 230 MB 3.5-inch MO disks, Fujitsu said.
DynaMO 2300SCSI gives users an ultrasound image and data backup and archiving option for less than a penny per megabyte, Fujitsu said. It will be released in the U.S. in January 2004.
