Siemens Medical Solutions

Siemens will display a range of information technologies at the meeting, with an emphasis on integration and radiology efficiency gains.

Siemens will be discussing a number of new technologies such as floating licenses, Web-based distribution, “blade” computing, workflow engines, central archive management, and application service provider (ASP) approaches in its booth. The Malvern, PA-based firm will also unveil new designs for radiology reading workplaces that offer productivity benefits such as workflow automation, RIS functionality, EMR, speech recognition, and Web-based knowledge databases.

Siemens will again demonstrate its Novius Radiology RIS and Sienet PACS. In addition, the vendor will show integration of its Soarian Clinical Access clinical repository with its Leonardo 3-D post-processing workstation, allowing clinicians to reconstruct images and access complete patient information, according to the vendor.

Siemens will have all of its IT-based systems interconnected in the booth, allowing for patient information to be viewed at any workplace. And all Siemens products now share the firm’s syngo toolkit and GUI. This enables, for example, an RT at a CT scanner console to retrieve the EMR or view image folders stored on the PACS network. The syngo GUI brings clinical, financial, diagnostic, and therapeutic data into one patient-centric view, according to the vendor.

Siemens representatives will also discuss the firm’s professional services program, which customers can utilize for workflow improvement and integration efforts. Through the program, Siemens can provide change management, process management, and customized implementations as well.
