Vital Images will highlight McKesson partnership, new Vitrea options.
The 3-D-software developer will give prime attention to its relationship with healthcare IT firm McKesson Information Solutions. Vital Images’ Vitrea software will be shown both in both vendors’ booths.
Initially, Vitrea is being offered on McKesson’s Horizon Medical Imaging management system using DICOM protocols, but will be integrated directly over time, the company said. Sales forces from both firms are selling each other’s products in tandem.
In other RSNA areas of focus, the Minneapolis, MN-based vendor will show a general vessel probe option to Vitrea. Slated for release in the fourth quarter of 2003, this option provides one-click vessel analysis to radiologists examining CT and MR contrasted vessels to visualize and quantify the presence and extent of obstructive vascular disease.
Another Vitrea option provides CT lung analysis using 2-D and 3-D visualization tools, automatic measurements, and lung nodule report generation. A corresponding CAD image analysis and visualization system, R2’s Image Checker CT LN-1000, automatically detects and marks potentially abnormal pulmonary nodules, Vital Images said. Available outside of the U.S., the option is expected to receive FDA clearance in early 2004.
The company will also now offer concurrent licenses as a Vitrea option. Thanks to a partnership with Mirada Solutions, Vital Images will also demonstrate Fusion 7D, a fusion imaging feature allowing for combination of medical images from the same or differing scanning modalities. This product will be launched in the first quarter of 2004.
Finally, Vital Images will demonstrate Softread, which adds primary diagnostic reading capabilities to Vitrea for CT, MR, CR/DR, and other digital modalities on color or grayscale monitors. Softread is part of Vitrea 3.5, scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2004.
