PACS vendors will arrive at the 2008 RSNA conference this year with wares bolstered by new advanced visualization applications and support for digital mammography exams.
Attendees interested in test-driving the latest and greatest in AV technology will have no shortage of booths to visit, as many PACS firms continue to integrate these much-needed applications. Customers will now be able to launch these tools directly from their PACS workstation software, accessing capabilities such as 3D, virtual colonoscopy, and image fusion functionality.
Of course, advanced visualization technology won't only be on display in PACS vendor exhibits at RSNA. Be sure to check out our upcoming Advanced Visualization Road to RSNA section for a preview of standalone AV technology introductions.
PACS companies continue to devote development resources to supporting digital mammography, with many firms set to highlight mammography PACS configurations at McCormick Place. Some vendors also are adding support for nuclear medicine to their PACS workstation software.
In addition, those interested in an integrated RIS/PACS package will be able to take in a wide selection of RIS/PACS technology. PACS vendors also continue to refine the workflow benefits of their software. In particular, several vendors have incorporated tools aimed at improving the efficiency of multisite radiology environments.
