Given Imaging receives FDA first-line tool clearance

Video-capsule manufacturer Given Imaging of Yoqneam, Israel, said that it has received clearance from the Food and Drug Administration for use of its Given Diagnostic System as a first-line tool in the detection of abnormalities of the small bowel. This action by the FDA removes the "adjunctive tool" qualifier in the company’s previous clearance verbiage covering the use of capsule endoscopy, the company said.
