Lyncean receives NIH grant

Lyncean Technologies of Palo Alto, CA, has received a $1.3 million grant from the U.S. National Institutes of Health's (NIH) National Center for Research Resources to develop a new x-ray-based technology.

The grant will allow Lyncean to continue its development of differential phase-contrast imaging, which uses an x-ray beam produced by the company's compact light source (CLS) technology. The money also will fund the development of an x-ray imaging system called CHRIS, or clinical high-resolution imaging system, which utilizes properties of the CLS x-ray beam.

Lyncean hopes that CHRIS will aid in clinical applications for cancer detection, mammography, osteoarthritis, and small animal imaging, as well as other clinical radiologic applications that require the detection of fine structure within soft tissue.
