Display provider BarcoView has launched DuraLight, a backlight technology that extends the life of medical liquid-crystal displays (LCDs) by a factor of three to five compared with conventional cold-cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFL), according to the Kortrijk, Belgium-based firm. Barco believes the new technology addresses the cost-of-ownership concerns associated with LCD technology.
DuraLight’s performance gain is achieved without increasing power consumption or compromising visual performance, Barco said. DuraLight backlights come with a five-year warranty, and are available as an option on the firm’s Coronis 3MP display systems with BlueBase viewing mode.
